Mrs. E.J. Fullerton oldest pioneer of Mitchell Township died at her home here on Monday, July 28, at the advouced age of 88 years, 8 months and three days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C.S. Brown, pastor of the local Methodist church, and burial was made in the private burying grounds on the old home farm.
Miss Eliza Jane Vanguilder was born in Skanestles, Cayuga Co, N.Y., Nov. 25, 1835, was married in 1853 to John S. Fullerton and to this union 7 children were born, 6 girls and one boy, as follows: Mrs. Mary Harman, Denver Col., Viola Meister, Waterville, Ohio, Mrs. Emma McKay, Mrs. Eliza Weidbrauk, Henry Fullerton, all of Curran, Alma McCormick, Onaway, Mich., Gracie Fox, Sterling Mich..
The son and the oldest daughter have preceded her in death, all others were present at her bedside when she passed away. There are 46 grand children and a number of great grand children and great great grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Fullerton came to this neighborhood in the fall of 1885. The husband died nearly 31 years ago and was buried in the private burying grounds upon the home form. Mrs. Fullerton has been a member of the Methodist church since childhood, was a faithful find and devoted mother and a good neighbor. Besides the members of the family she leaves to mourn a host of nolghbors and friends who have known and loved her there for many years. Our loss is her eternal gain.
